Edisto Island, SC – Golfers of all abilities, as well as non-golfers, are invited to take part in the Tomato Open Golf Tournament on Friday, June 26, 2009 at the Plantation Course at Edisto. A benefit for Edisto Island Open Land Trust (EIOLT), the tourney will be highlighted by a $25,000 cash prize for the winner of the Hole-in-One Contest (hole #6), plus other hole-in-one competitions, a putting contest, Mulligans, many other great prizes and awards, raffle, breakfast and barbecue lunch and refreshments.
A big tent is being set up at hole #6 so that spectators can mingle and enjoy refreshments while watching golfers try their luck at winning the $25,000 cash prize, says event chair Robert E. "BoBo" Lee, who also chairs the EIOLT Board of Directors. He adds that individuals and couples are welcome to register – they will be added to other golfers to form four-person teams. The tourney has a "Shamble" format and the cost is $500 per team. Included is a full breakfast, prizes and a barbecue lunch.
